August Existing Home Sales Take a Step back

Breaking a three month up treand August existing home sales declined 2.7 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.1 million in August, from a brisk record setting pace of 5.24 million in July.

Still higher than comparable numbers a year ago most experts expect August to be nothing but a bump in a continuing up trend. Citing signs of increasong demand, fueled by the $8000 tax credit, experts are sticking to predictions of strong sales trough November.

The median sales price fopr the month was $177,700, down 12.5 percent from $203,200 in the same month last year.
